As per snr Otis's suggestion (reference: Topic - Opass Alumni Association of N. America) please contact Snr. Otis on 07956 288 054 with your donation of £10, more than £10 or less than £10! Any other donations in kind i.e. time, talent/professional advice, equipments, etc. are also most welcome.
The plan is to add all donations to that of North America's to help our dear OPASS. The focus is "to build our school".
Please help for divided we fall and United we stand.
Thank you and God richly bless you and replace all that you give for this good cause, a "billion" fold.
Please note that the folks in North America are doing a great job and Mr Asare-Takyi is their treasurer. They are already organised and donating via monthly dues pledges etc. so perhaps it's best to let them go ahead and not disorganise their programme/plans and the rest of us contribute towards theirs. Little drops will fill the bucket. The focus is on OPASS.
I believe as per usual fund raising is at the top of the agenda for the reunion in May. Of course any donations from the rest of us can still go to Snr. Asare-Takyi. The most important thing is for us to move i.e. donate so come on guys, action now please!
The most important thing is good health and strength for All Brothers and Sisters so we could do our best for OPASS.
The contribution could go anywhere provided on the final analysis we OPASSIANS help solve some of the problems our sons and daughters are facing there at present.
Sister Doreen AL has been liaising with OPASS North America closely so I think, the message is, if we in UK/ Europe could organise our contributions here and link up with them then that would be fine.
Sister Doreen EW would attempt to open a bank account on this friday so we could donate into it.Infact, she would be the coordinator for the fund raising programme with the support coming from myself and Sister Doreen AL.
I hope this is clear, and we should try not to develop any arguments on this.
Mr Asiedu & Appiah, if you are ready with your £10 or more donations and u are around, please contact Sister Doreen EW immediately.
I appreciate the good initiative you mpanyinfoo in Europe at taking to help us on the path that we have taken. I will agreed with Ohene Dokyi to have all contribution from Europe into one location, being it a bank account or with someone and a lump sum remitted to us when appropriate. I will provide our banking information once you guys are ready to remit the funds. I will love to have further discussions on this with Ohene Dokyi and/or Doreen on the way going forward. Please contact me via phone or email at 001-614-668-1542 (weekends) or ytakyi@insight.rr.com or yaw.takyi@bisys.com. For those of you (especially those who used to pretend to be sick to avoid cleaning time) who will love to try and put a face to my name and were in Opass between 1979 to 1984, I was the Dispensary Assistant from 1980 to 1984 and also the school goalkeeper from 1981 to 1984. The guy that was carried shoulder high for saving some penalty shots for us to be able to beat Abusco for the first time in so many years. This is just by the way. On a serious note please Ohene and Doreen do try and contact me directly. Email will be perfect as I not good with the phones for long
Hello Awuah, what about those of us in Switzerland, should we contribute directly to the US or still pay through Britain? I think if we can have the central bank accounts, some of us can pay directly to the US accounts.
Secondly, I think the committee should plan for a mechanism to take such donations. I believe no one is interested in squandering such money, but if there is a mechanism, such arguments will not come up. I think bank transfers work no matter where one is. If this paying to Britain and later sending it to the central account will not work peacefully, let us all send the donation to the central accounts.
My suggestion is; if a donation is requested, that donation should have an account hanging on the central account, that any body can pay into that particular accounts for donation, either by money transfer or by pay card on the net or which ever way. In this way all payments will end up in the central accounts directly. Let us come out with a mechanism that will take care of this by not raising eyebrows next time. I am ready for corrections. Thank you all for the heart you have for your alma mater.Edward Apau(www.monarkmovie.com)
Ed, I think it's probably best for you to donate directly to N. America. The rationale behind the central point here is to avoid individual charges (some banks here charge for external transfers) which could put people off. Also I have had problems with internet banking so that is not an option where I am concerned and perhaps there may be people like me.
Worry not, no eyebrows will be raised, we want to help and therefore thought about the best possible options, no one asked us/forced us. N.America and mpanyinfo back home are doing a great job and we just needed to act -"we are on fire for OPASS"! For example I live outside London and thus felt it would be a good idea for the Londoners to lead in this and liaise with N. America - we have twiddled our thumbs for too long. Of course one must feel comfortable with this but we don't anticipate any untoward incidents. The focus is on helping OPASS.
Snr Asare-Takyi, I hope to be in NYC in May so hopefully we will figure out a better way forward but will be in touch soon. I believe Snr Otis and Doreen EW will be in touch too.
I am appealing to all that used computers, scanners and textbooks (science, arts, business), etc will be appreciated. I am suggesting that we look into that. A large consignment is on its way to the Dominican Republic by some co-workers and I am looking into that for our alma mater. Guys lets rock and roll and help put OPASS at a high pedestal.

Apau, I'm glad you brought this up - we have to be careful to prevent confusion. Please send your donation directly to the US account. Let's know when you are ready and the account info will be password protected and emailed to you. We have been contemplating on putting the account info online, but there are a lot of security concerns. So we are going to stick to sending it to individuals (Non-UK folks) after positive identification... a few general questions will do until our online donation capability is finalized.
We are going to use our donor list to actively track and report our donations, therefore donors, please check the list and make sure your name is posted as soon as we receive your donation.
The plan outlined by Otis & Doreen*2 is in order. Please go ahead with your plan and forward the list of donors to us as they come in to be posted.
Once more, please UK folks coordinate with Otis & Doreen*2 -- all others, kindly get in touch with our treasurer (Mr. Yaw Takyi) for our account info.
Congratulations Mpaninfoo.... we are on the move ---- Let's keep up and maintain the enthusiasm. Take care.
