Mpanyinfo,

March 16,2007  marks the 5th anniversary of the sudden demise of our beloved brother and friend Victor Kwasi Adu-Nyarko alias ALORZO.

Alorzo as he was affectionately known among friends and well-wishers was a 'full-blooded' Opassian since he had both his O'level and A'level education on the Opass soil.  As some of us who had the chance to share one classroom with Alorzo may recollect, he started his secondary school education in Sept 1984 and completed his A'level in June 1991.  Very much determined to climb higher the academic ladder, Alorzo proceeded to the University of Ghana where he came out with a bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Immediately after graduation, Alorzo was posted to the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital where he would later meet his untimely death.  On that fateful day(March 16,2002) a directive came from the Ministry of Defence to the effect that some military personnel who had been involved in a motor accident and had been rushed to the Holy Family Hospital be flown to the 37 Military Hospital, Accra for further treatment.  In accordance with the ethics of the health profession, a health professional had to be nominated to accompany accident victims who were to be flown to Accra.  Brethen, this was how death laid its icy hands on our brother, friend and mate Victor Kwasi Adu-Nyarko.  Barely 20 minutes after take-off,the helicopter in which they were traveling crashed and all passengers on the flight were crushed and burnt beyond recognition.

Alorzo crept his way to become the mouth-piece as well as the support and pillar of his family.  It could therefore be deduced that the vacuum that his death created would be virtually impossible to fill.  Brethen, you may be taken aback to be intimated that the much deserved compensation that was expected to be given to the bereaved family has still not been received. The insensitivity of the Defence Ministry was brought to bare when it refused to respond even after some media houses like Joy FM(courtesy Opanyin Kwasi Asare), Ghanaweb.com etc had taken up the matter.  Incredibly, the father who was still mourning the sudden loss of Alorzo, unexpectedly died (a couple of months after Alorzo's ) and left the rest of the family to their fate.

Mpanyinfo, I traveled to Ghana (Feb 17-March 14) for my deceased mum's funeral and I seized the opportunity to visit the bereaved family.  Brethen, what eyes saw has been the motivating factor for this proposed endowment fund. Before returning to my Chicago base, I had a thorough discussion with some mpanyinfo including Dr RK Asare in this direction and they all welcomed the proposal.

I am, hence, imploring all mpanyinfo both home and abroad to give this proposal a thought.  All mpanyinfo who want further clarifications on the proposal or have questions can contact the following mpanyinfo:

Peace Maker Osei-Tutu (001-773-538-4463(home), 001-773-430-6560(cell)

HMMM,
O'MAKER!!!!!!
I'M IN A VERY SORROWFUL MOOD TODAY AS U KNOW I WAS VERY CLOSE TO VICTOR. IN FACT HE WAS IN MY OFFICE THREE DAYS BEFORE HIS DEMISE ON DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING HIS POST GRADUATE PROGRAM THAT HE WAS ABOUT TO START IN THE UK.

WE CAN NOT FAULT GOD AS HE KNOWS BEST. WE MOOTED THIS IDEA FIVE YEARS AGO BUT IT HASN'T BEEN IMPLEMENTED YET. I THEREFORE URGE THE '89/91 YEAR GROUP TO START AND ALL OF US WILL GET ON BOARD.
IT HASN'T BEEN EASY AND PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKING WHETHER ITS WORTH DYING FOR THIS NATION... BUT THAT WILL BE DISCUSSED IN ANOTHER FORUM.

HER JUNIOR SISTER WHO WAS THEN STAYING WITH HIM IS NOW ON PRACTICAL ATTACHMENT AT THE ACCOUNTING SECTION IN MY ORGANISATION AND LOOKING FOR PERMANENT JOB.

LETS CARRY ON WITH THIS NOBLE IDEA. GOD BLESS US ALL.

Dear all,
I think what peace Maker is proposing should be considered. Alorzo is really a full blown Opanyin and we need to stand by his family. I bet you if Alorzo is alive, he would have done this for any other person. I know times are hard but this all that this togetherness is for: to stand and support each other, in time of sorrows or happiness, in times of difficulties etc. We couldn’t support as a family because were not well organized and together as Mpanyinfor like today. But we can still do it. I know times are hard but doing such is a blessing. Please let us help his family out since he was the bread winner. For Adu Nyarko’s donation, I set the ball rolling as a classmate, by pledging $50 (50 US Dollars). Mr. Awuah, how should this also be paid now? And to which accounts?

I will say this again and again; let us appreciate people in our lives now. We don’t need to wait till it is announced that; “GOD FORBID”, brother A or sister B is gone that we start rattling on this site. Let us do it now.
In view of this, I will once more say a BIG THANK YOU to Mr. Awuah & Co, for the time and money you put into this association to become an electronic Assembly Hall, Dinning hall and Classrooms, for us to meet again like in the olden days. I am proud of you all because I can link up to people that I never thought of meeting again in my life. There is a saying that, old friend’s are the best which I can stand by that. So bringing us together again is a 100% plus. This is no co-incident, it is a vision that God gave to you, which you obeyed and it is working. To my brother Collins, hmm! You are on the right track. Keep it up.

I will like to thank all Mpanyinfor for accepting and supporting this idea of coming together. Together we stand, divided we fall. I really love you all from the bottom of my heart and I love Opass for giving me the foundation in life.

Secondly Awuah I will like to set up a foundation for the committee that will generally support a Deceased (Opanyin) family such as wife, husband, children and parents. I am going to dedicate one of my short films to this fund where by all money that will be realised from it will go to such funds. I will contact you Awuah later to set this rolling for the committee to discuss. It might not be today or tomorrow but it is on my heart to do it. This is how I can also support the family of our dear ones that God will call them home. I pray that no one will die before his or her time, but we need to get such things down. No profit will come to me but only into this fund. If it is a good idea then let me know and I will plan towards it. God bless you all.

Mpaninfoo, Eddie is right, this could have been any one of us. For those of us who had the opportunity of knowing and being around Alonzo, saying he loved, cared and respected everyone he came across -  will simply be an understatement. Peace Maker, thanks for giving us the chance to show our appreciation for what Alonzo meant to us.

Apau, thanks for the kind words. We should all share this compliment, I believe --- You, Doreen*2, Collins, Otis, Anochie, Y-Takyi, Mark Amoako, Pastor M Affrifa, and many, many others behind the scenes, monitor this site on a daily basis. The executive body and I are particular grateful to everyone at this forum - this "site" will be nothing if nobody visits and participate in our discussions. Thank you Mpaninfoo --- let's get the word out there, we need "everyone" here.

Back to the topic - Folks, this endowment fund idea should be taken seriously. Let's talk more about this.

Eddie thanks for taking the lead with your donation and your willingess to give more in the future.

Doris and I donate $100. This will be used as our initial deposit for this purpose. The account will be opened today and the info will be provided to you as soon as possible - to enable wire transfers etc. there is no need to wait. Please let's do something for this family.

Peace Maker, kindly start taking note of donations/pledges as they come in. Thanks for this opportunity --- Peace Maker.

Kofi Kena, please get in touch (bd_awuah@yahoo.com).

To all interested Mpaninfoo, please join in. Kind regards.

Collins, the bereaved family has told me about the good things you have been doing for them. Vivian, the youngest among the children, made a special mention of your kindness and generousity towards her.  God will richly bless you.

Edward Apau, you have really touched my heart and I know that anyone who has read your script has been touched. God will bless you.

I'm currently in consultation with mpanyinfo and I promise to return to the forum after the issue has been thoroughly mooted. I'm grateful to you all for supporting my proposal and giving it a serious thought. Collins, can you please make your contact available to me.  I need to have a very important discussion with you.

Dear All

My heart goes out to the late Victor Adu-Nyarko and the family.I know how it is like with a lost of a dear one. Brother Osei-Tutu, my condenlences.

The issue is, and I suggest, the Year Group my late Brother Victor belongs should take the lead on this initiative, which could be akin to the OPASS85's support to the Late Henry Offei Akoto during and after the burial. We did extremely well and there is more in the pipeline for our friend Risky.I personally know others from outside the Year Group also did well. I do agree with Frank's suggestion, but please let us group them into years so we could simplify matters.I am not saying other Year Groups could not donate for Brother Victor, we would join in due course or even at the onset, but it is nice and better for the Year Group to organise and contribute handsomely initially.

Please Brothers and Sisters, we should not forget the YEAR GROUP thing just now.

I think in this way, we would be able to focus on our aims and objectives as a young association a bit better.

Thank you.

PS: Mr Awuah, I  am sorry I missed your call.I will return the call later this week.Stay blessed with the family.
