HI FOLKS, THE LATEST PHOTOS OF THE BUILDINGS AND SURROUNDINGS OF OPASS SAYS A LOT. A PICTURE, THEY SAY IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS. THE PICTURES FROM AKIM TAFO SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. LET'S ALL PLEDGE AND DONATE TO SAVE OUR GREAT SCHOOL. THANKS, GOD BLESS.
I will be collecting donations from the Carribeans and channel them to the headmaster during my one month home visit in September. I will also be organizing saturday Math, Chemistry and Physics classes for the students at no cost.
I could sense some confusion arising from the ongoing discussion. I suggest that the Carribean union channel their funds through the US/Canada union and present it as a united front. United we stand!
Mpaninfoo, Please let's get things a little clearer to avoid confusion. We have in the past talked about this --- but we do get new members here on daily basis which calls for regular updates:
1. We -- together as old students -- no matter which branch we belong to should channel our resources towards the assembly hall. As seen in the photos forwarded to us some time ago -- the foundation has been completed. The next level is to erect pillars and then to the roof..... This may sound quite simple (someone may say) but it's not, looking at the monies involved. Let's not be hindered by that, let's contribute the little that we can on constant basis, $20, $50, $100 etc per month. Now, with such constant income -- the structure will be ready (in 4yrs) for the golden jubilee. Individual classes can take on extra assignments, if they so desire --- which we encourage --- but together -- let's focus on the assembly hall. (--- It was agreed upon during our reunion that -- the executive members are going to pay $500 each and all others, $300 towards the assembly hall this yr. -- we are late on the CDs due to a few technical problems - we are still working on it.)
2. The Ghana branch has been tasked with the responsibility of supervising the project -- and feed us with status report as needed. Consequently, our initial funds have been channeled through them. Collins, Charles and Selina --- please furnish whoever needs the account info -- but as stated in an earlier posting -- US, Canada and the Caribbean will contribute directly to the US account and remit as a group whichever will save us from unnecessary fees.
3. Please let's refrain from going back and forth as to what needs to be done and not. We've been on this issue for so long ---
4. Mr. Ohene Dokyi, I do recognize your enthusiasm and frustration in trying to get your folks to come to the table for so long a time. My commendation is that even if it takes just you and your "Doreens" - please go ahead and get your contributions together and let's forward it.... people will get to know about this... let's see what comes out of that sacrifice... let's give it a try.
5. We can sympathize with OPASS for her numerous needs, but without the necessary action --- it's all meaningless. Let's not "kill" each other over this..... Although democracy calls for such decisions to be dragged for a long time - with all the questions, worries and uncertainties we can come up with, but Mpaninfoo, we've come a long way... Please let's move forward.
