On behalf of all Opassians and on my own behalf, I wish to express our sincere gratitude to Dr Oware Agyapong ,a Neuro surgeon consultant in UK, and a 1974/76 year group member for donating to our school a second laptop. We hope individuals , couples and groups will in their small ways give to the school. Already, Dr Koranteng, and Mr Owusu Aduomi of South Africa, and members of the 1970 year group, donated the first laptop last december 2009. We still need more things, please come and help.

Hello Mr Twum Danso, I think that the administration of the school has their plans regarding the installation of the computers. Please let us help the school to the best of our ability and leave the day to day running of the school to the current administration. The school had a computer lab, and the program has not been scratched. Lets trust the administration will take decisions in the best interest of the students, weighing the variables on the ground.

furious.gif Sandy, I totally disagree with you on this issue. You and I do have a lot in common and we go a long way back but on this issue, I think you went off the mark. If the school authorities knew they had a functioning computer lab that is modern, then why did not agree when we suggested to buy them computers? I sincerely believe that none of our members want to intrude into the day-to-day running of the school but please do not forget that these same people contributed their hard earned money to purchase the computers for the school. At least, installing them would have given us the encouragement to help in other areas. You were intimately involved in clearing the computers and may I ask you about how long ago? We will always come up with constructive criticism where we think things are not going right and I'm sure you'll agree with me on this.

I visited OPASS the first week of June and spoke with the headmaster, libarian, computer teacher and teachers. The libarian said he needs a computer to document all books in the libarary which is not much. The libarary needs books, periodicals, journals, tables and chairs.I also visited the computer lab.The computers are in place but not connected. The audio visual screen is not operational. The computer classroom is located at the upper level of the science building and is in terrible need of airconditioning due to lack of ample ventilation. There is a need for more computers for the huge student population which is about 1600.The headmaster expects an increase in the near future due to a change in the current goverment's idea of adding an extra grade to SHS.The landscape looks wonderful upon entering the main gate. The headmaster has done a great job in that regard. A wall has been built along the border with the main road.In my conversation with him,he said there was an urgent need to complete the new assembly hall project by the 50th anniversary date, which he said will bring in some much needed income if rented to the local community for various activities. The dining hall has been extended to include the art and music area.A new two storey classroom is in construction phase located at the arigulture garden and next to the science building. All the classrooms and dormitories were in total disrepair. The bathrooms at the boys dormitories had not a single roof,no running water or flushing toilets.Old fashion atonko was about 500 yards from the building in the bush.About thirty-five male students were in each room with boxes blocking isles. There is a need for dormitories and running water in the bathrooms. There were afternoon classes for the students in both math and english.Well that was my visit in a nutshell.Let us help as much as possible.Chao!.

I can't believe the students are still using the famous ATONKO.We had to use it in '72 when we relocated to the new premises since there was no running water.
