Mpaninfoo -- I'm pleased to inform you that registration for this year's reunion is ongoing. Click the link below to register. 4th Annual Registration
A message was sent out a few weeks ago about what the "monies" raised over the years is going to be used for. My guess is - we may not have everyone's email address and may not have received this. I'm therefore posting it below for you. We need everyone's input for the impact we are looking for. Thanks and hoping to see you in Virginia.
========================================================== "...This is a short note to update you on our association. On behalf of the executive body and the association, I would like to thank you for your generous contributions and thoughts over the years. This is also a good time for us to brief you on what your donations are being used for. One of our main goals was to help build the long awaited assembly hall, but we had to suspend that plan due to the resource-intensive nature of the project. Our focus was shifted onto projects that could yield immediate impact.
In light of this, the association chose to provide a state-of-the-art computer lab for OPASS. A facility to help students obtain vital computing skills before leaving the four walls of OPASS; I wonder how many of us wish they had learned to type during our secondary school years. I guess many of us have different stories to tell on this topic; hours upon hours spent trying to get a two-paged assignment ready for presentation. Fortunately, technology has made the acquisition of such skills much easier. Talking about vital computing skills, we can contribute towards making every Ofori Panin Student computer literate (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint etc,) - if they so choose.
We have been able to purchase 10 computers (with your contributions) and plans are ongoing to purchase all the necessary equipment needed to network these computers. A printer will be provided and maybe an overhead projector. Luckily, the equipment are going to be shipped free of charge by (Opanin) Mr. Steve Oduro. Also another Opanin is volunteering to travel home to ensure our project is completed and handed over to the administration as soon as the items get home.
Let's not stop here; wouldn't it be great if we were able to provide the school with sets of sport equipment? Jerseys, soccer balls, volley balls etc. Here is another opportunity for anyone who wishes to help to do so. We can do much more if all of us can chip in something small (some already have). We have up till mid February to make complete all purchases to ensure we don't miss Mr. Oduro's shipping date. Our mailing address remains the same. You can always send in your pledges/contributions towards this project.
4th re-union: the executive body met last week in preparation for our reunion. we'll be meeting on June 20th in VA. This is an election year for us. We need your participation to enable our good intentions materialize. ..."
