Dear Brothers and Sisters, are we aware that Opass will be 50years in exactly 28months-September 2011 ? I hope all Old students and year groups will start thinking about the occassion, and come out with suggestions on how best we can help as Old students celebrate the occassion. I am thinking of we considering the following:- Media ( print and electronic ) adverts, Sponsorship and Fundraising Activities. We will need your contributions both in material and ideas. I wish you all the best, and let the debate start.
Mr Athur, l strongly second your article and l hope all mpanifoo will take this seriously. 28 months is like 2.8 days, it will soon come, we need to start a commitee for this. l think we should contact our brothers and sisters in Ghana, North America, Britian, and Canada immeadiatly to start this commitee going on. And also start advertising it. one thing we have to know about everything you want to do in life should back by a strong communication, communication will solve every promblem, I therefore enhance, mpanifoo to communicate among ourselves to know what is going on. Thanks to Mr Awuah for this wonderful site that we can use for communication.
The upcoming reunion in north america, I suggest our first agenda should be the golden jubilee.
Opass have some bank mangers who can help us to achieve our goal, Mr Samuel Asare Aseidu, aka ASULE And his best friend, Smart aka, Sokoto both of them are in senior management in banks in ghana
Hi Spearman, thanks for you contribution. Iwill be happy, if you could provide me with the telephone numbers or emails of Mr Asiedu Asare and the other gentleman, and the names of thier banks so that I can contact them. thanks.
Mr Auther, I know the banks they work at but l dont have their information. Mr Samuel Aseidu is with Ghana Commercial Bank the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Branch and Smart Smith, is with Merchant Bank. I will be going home in August, I will try to contact them and see their interest and what they can do and go from there. l am ready to be a key member for the jubilee commitee. So let us meet at the coming US re-union and start everything from there.
Mpanifoo, show some concern about this 50 years aniversary and send comments and suggestions, so that we can plan this in time and successful.
Thanks ,Spearman for offering yourself for this assignment. I know we are on the right path, and that others will join eventually. In the mean time lets try and come out with the things that we want seen done, so that we can have our expectations crystalized early early enough so that we can know when to merge our ideas with tthat of the schools'.
Thanks Mr Spearman for your enthusiasm and willingness to help. We need people like you to move this association forward. Your registration fee has been recieved. Thanks. How about campaigning for the next president of the assoc. for the next term? You got my vote.
Sister Edina, thanks very much for thinking I can be the president. Yes, but it is not yet time, I Think the old executives are doing a wonderful job, and I recommand you guys stay on board.
This is an excellent idea that we need to start the planning NOW. I was able to go for the 40th anniverssary and there were a lot of things that could have been planned much better. With that experience in mind, it's about time to start planning with a clear cut benchmarks. We should also bear in mind that the initial planning must include the headmaster and his staff and the Parent Association. This is the time that people must come out with ideas. All ideas will have to be discussed about their viabilities. Ill volunteer to be part of the planning committee.
Hi Steve, thanks for reminding us about the need to get the school involved in whatever plans we have. Now we need the ideas - Things To Do, and how to get then done. who to contact etc etc
I agree to all that you have discussed. I think what we can do is to contact the school authorities; find out their pressing needs and pick one that we can really achieve before the time, which can also become a monument for the 50th Anniversary. This is my idea. We don't need to promise something that we can not achieve which will be a blow to the entire school.
Wonderful contributions from all Mpanyinfoo about the Golden Jubilee celebration.
My suggestion( which I have already communicated to some year group mates in Ghana) is that we will try to contact at least 20 members of the 1988 year group. Mr. Collins Boafo is our PRO. With this team, we will brainstorm as how to raise at least GH¢ 10,000.00 as our contribution towards the building of the Assembly Hall, which has begun but still at the foundation stage.
I am by this, inviting all 1988 year group( O'level) and 1990 year group (A'level) to join to raise something substantial to support our alma mater- that GREAT SCHOOL.
Also, by this I am throwing the challenge to all other year groups to do something in style for the benefit of our school.
It is our time to do something monumental for our school...... and hey," a poco, a poco" we can do it, remember the wise saying goes.... 'a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step'.
Hi, Mr Charles Arthur(aka Snr Sandy),many congratulations for the excellent work you have been doing so far for our beloved Alma Mater. As we trek meticulously towards the celebration of our Golden Jubilee which is so close,it behoves on all of us who have benefitted from the nurture and succour of Mother Opass to reciprocate. And I am very confident that Opanin Charles Arthur will once more rise to the occasion and marshal us to attend and contribute to the Jubilee's goals. Even though some of us are not based in Ghana at the moment,we will do what we can to make Mother Opass proud. Please, let us know the programme schedule early so that some of us will know what is required of us in good time. And I will want to volunteer myself to be on the organising committee,if possible.
NB: Many Condolensces to the children and family of the late Mr Twum Danso. Special messages of sympathy to children Harry,Paa Willie,Kingsley and Lydia. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
And point of correction, the late Mr Twum Danso(Kofi Atta) was the THIRD headmaster of Opass not the second. The first Headmaster of Opass was Mr Adwedaa, who headed briefly before Mr Twum-Ampofo(Oga/Guy Yoyo)took over.
