Hello all,

Every now and then I revisit the history pages of our school right there on the home page. I do this because it always gives me a lot of motivation and in numerous occassions my energy have been revitalised just by reading and re-eading over the deeds of our heroic pioneers. Sometimes I wonder whether our generation could live up to some of the challenges, and hardships they had to put up with.

As usual, I just read the notes again and lo and behold it did what it always does to me, but it also left me asking questions of self realisation. What more could we have done and what more could I have done differently in those days when we were and I was a student in OPASS. I do feel I could have done more to earn the personality I have become today with more pride in accomplishments. May be you are like me. Years later you looked back and wondered what you could have done differently knowing all that you know today. It's never too late. Come join me and the rest of this proactive generation to put our ideas together. LET'S JUST DO SOMETHING NEW!!!

Today, however, I was touched by our heroes in various ways, but one I would like us to consider, is to find where these heroes are today. They might not need anything from us, not even want us to remember them in any way. But I still contend that "The nation that forgets its heroe is not worth dying for." Let's not be the generation that forget. Sankofa is still a worthy wisdom worth holding high.

For starters, could anybody let us know where these great personalities are today? My focus is on HILDA KWABUA, the lady who broke the national 880m record in 1962.

My final suggestion, consider setting up a process to recognise them and their achievements. A good forum for this would be our pending 50th anniversary celebration. I'M IN...HOW ABOUT YOU!!!

P/S
Further Suggestions Please!

Opanin Debrah,I agree perfectly with you and already count myself in to look for our heroes and heroines ,those who in diverse ways;academic, athletics, music, entertainment etc contributed in no mean ways to make Opass great.
Talking about Hilda Kwabua also brings fond memories of such great athletic exploits from Mary Manu ,Appiah Danquah(Wonana),our own dear Charles Arthur(Sandy).Ocansey,Kwaku Nsor,Amankwa(Sabato),Henking RASH),Faustina Ofori,Adwo Dornyoh,Mayfair Opong Antwi,Snr Shoe Shoe,King Gogo etc.
I will also doff my heart to Foster Agyei Darko in the field of entertainment. The way he consistently organised the homos night have left an indelible print of fun and sweet memories on our minds.
In the field of academics,Opass has been blessed with academic greats, some of whom continue to exude intellectual brilliance in their fields of work, our own Sister Selina at AMA,Lawyer Ofosu Amaah,Snr Mintah(Ahoofe)Doctors Arthur,Abusua, Derek Amakye,Kingsley Lartey etc etc.
Opanin Debrah, pls get in touch and together we can put together some of our own greats and proudly line them up for deserving awards.
I pause here and await further contribution from members.

Thanks, Ghana @ work for your warm reception of the wild idea. It is wild but a worhy pursuit and I'm glad you're in with me. Like you said we wait for further inputs from other Mpaninfoo. I was so happy and felt real good when you started the 'roll call of honour' and I know our list is going to be very impressive. OPASS certainly has an awesome resume and I believe any worhty administrator would want to hire her any day. Folks let's hear more of the roll call and see where we could get with that. I am very excited already.

Ghana @ work, my email address is hnrydebrah@yahoo.com. Let's link up and set ur shared ideas in motion. I look forward to hear from you soon.

We're still looking over there folks, let's hear your contributions!!!
