I was deeply saddened and shocked by the untimely death of Risky. Although we were not in contact after Sixth Form, I still remember him as if it were yesterday. Risky was like a brother to me. Our mothers are good friends and I fondly remember many visits to their residence at Tafo Girls School back in the day. He was such a friendly and good-natured person. Anytime we saw each other on campus, we would say "e dey there!" and laugh. I'm not exactly sure how all that started but it was all in good humour. He repeated it every chance he got because he knew it made me laugh. He really touched the lives of many people he came in contact with.
The ephemeral nature of human existence is such that death comes to the young and old alike without discrimination. There's a saying in Akan that "nnipa pa nkye wiase." Indeed, death has robbed us all of such a wonderful person.
Risky, there will never be a "goodbye" from us; you're just not in this world, you're in that place called eternity. May your soul rest in peace.
