WWW.OPASS85.COM is born today! This site would be dedicated to my Late friend Henry Offei Akoto aka Risky and all 1985 Year Group.
This website would be used to promote OPASS simple! This is a pilot project to support the brilliant idea Mr Awuah & OPASS North America have started. Many Schools in Ghana have developed this Year Group thing and it is working nicely.
It is complete package, hosting, website ready-to-go facility, etc, etc.Any like-minded volunteer interested to become a webmaster may come forward.
I am excited that you have made this happen. This website would be very useful in pulling together all your energies for the good of Opass and for your group.
I will do scrubbing and mopping for you anywhere anytime. Once a senior, always a senior. I admire your passion for the good of OPASS. Keep the flame burning to light the path. You will be amazed how many others are being guided.
My only caution is that Opass85.com will not deviate our attention from the bigger picture of the good Opass and the improvement of the mother website.
Kindly let me know if you could provide this information to me at your earliest convenience.

Hi Snr Otis, I combed through my list of regular members in Accra but surprisingly there wasn't any '85 year group member. Pls advice those around to try and attend our monthly meetings regularly. we meet at ATTC, kokomlemle on every 3rd sunday of the month at 4pm.
I think we should be careful not to have whole lots of Opass websites out there running along side the main website. What I think we should be doing is to create a link from the main website to all other sites, being it year groups, professional groups etc, etc. I think we should maintain a parent site from where you can be linked to all "baby" sites so not to bring confusion and also save time when surfing the site.
I have brought this very point to the forum for discussion sometime ago, but I'm afraid, there was no follow up.
I must reiterate that, this impending OPASS85 site should not under any circumstances replace the noble work Mr Awuah & North America OPASS group have started.
Myself and other like-minded individuals have decided to bring together our 1985 year group for the good of Ofori Panin Secondary School, Kukurantumi.
Variety is the spice of life, my brother.I suggest, you can initiate similar thing for your year group, and I promise you,it would only help to foster this togetherness we All are striving for.
I do understand your point of caution on proliferation of OPASS websites, but Mr Takyi, do not worry, this year group thing is an association of that group only to promote, initiate, enhance, and encourage developmental activities of OPASS.
Many premier schools in Ghana are already doing this with their year group websites, and it is delightful to visit them.
I really do not see the need for us to be splitting ourselves into year groups.Sooner or later our objectives will be defined by year and not by the school. With all due respect to the snr or snrs, pls let us stick with what we have and channel all our efforts to enhancing that which we already have.We are still at the foundation stages of this great cause so pls let us stick to it and not create any distraction.I believe that snr Otis may have great intentions but great intentions do not always yield great results.God bless u all.
I have been following this topic with keen interest right from the day Mr. Ohene-Dokyi mooted this idea and I'm tickled by the ongoing debate. Let us not enter into a "peeing" contest here. I think Otis' enthusiasm in opening the '85 website is a function of promoting his year group and a worthy tribute to a dear mate and friend (late Henry Offei-Akoto).
Candidly, I think he had to make a move because nothing was forthcoming from our dear webmaster. Being a personal friend, I can vouch that he (webmaster) was very occupied towards the latter part of last year hence his inability to develop opassians.org as expected.
We must all admit that this whole venture is at a very infant stage and we have to nurture it to grow for the sake of OPASS. One way of nurturing is to make room for such "branches" (pardon my lack of the IT terminology) from the parent website.
Otis (and all Opass '85), it is very good you create a common identity but it would even be better if this identity is focused into the broader Opass Alumni vision - to promote OPASS. You cannot imagine how much you have sensitized other year groups into beginning a register of their class the past few weeks (I have done same and have the names of about 70 of my mates already). That alone gives a lot of credit to Opass '85.
Fortunately, I don't think anybody sees this brilliant initiative as having any undercurrents of secession. It is only people believe more in the adage "United we Stand". I am privileged to have some friends from 3 different schools with this "Old Boy" website, and I can say with authority that the year-group pages are embedded within the parent website. Please let's give this a shot and see if it wouldn't be a better way to develop www.opassians.org.
I think Mr. Dokyi is coming up with a new and great idea but we should be careful we don’t deviate from the main plan. I came out with an idea before that, in order not to bring confusion due to different classes or year’s websites, year groups should rather be made to hang on the parent site as links. We don't necessarily need Awuah to be doing all the sites. The year group can create their own sites and send them to Awuah who will just fine-tune them if needed and put them on as links.
What I will ask Awuah to help is, try to create the links now from the first year till now at the home page, and let them read that they are under construction. It will then become the duty of that group to come together to send a planed site or information’s for you to work on. Awuah cannot prepare information’s for all the Classes; he needs time for himself and family so don't let us stretch him to the limit. Each class should prepare their own information’s and if possible, with a plan of how the sites should look like, then with Awuah's professionalism, he will upload the sites to their respective links that he has created.
I hope I haven’t offended anybody. If I have, please forgive, for we are all trying to come out with something that will last. Thanks Mr. Dokyi, for your drive for the classes. Bravo!
The idea of linking all class websites to the parent site is great. It will offer variety and also the unity we’ve all been craving for to assist our dear OPASS. I think Edward's suggestion is good therefore if all agree, I will create the links and await information from the representatives of the year groups. There won't be any additional cost for the links as we are already paying for the parent site. Do you agree with this guys? Let me hear from you. Kind regards, Ben
Motion seconded! Meaning I agree with Collins et al. So at your convenience Ben. We appreciate your sacrifice and great work. God's choicest blessings be yours.
